Hey, Look, a New Blog!
So, what's all this about?
To everyone here (I'm guessing most of you are from Twitter), welcome! And if I haven't yelled with you about my nerdy obsessions before, hi there, nice to meet you! I've been having so many incredible conversations with a lot of great people within writing and fandom communities in the past year or so, and I wanted to find a way to expand a bit. I've been pretty active on Twitter, but lately, I've wanted a new platform where I can talk about certain things in more depth, within an accessible space. It's hard to get all your thoughts down in 25o characters or less, so this is an extra place to talk about all things storytelling. Don't worry, I'll still be using Twitter, but I hope that some of you will enjoy whatever I decide to expand upon here, and I hope it keeps the conversation going!
Mostly, this will be a place where I can write about writing as I grow and learn new things. In the "Fandom" section, I'll talk about whatever media I'm consuming (whether it be books, TV shows, movies, video games- anything!) and how it's affecting my life, my writing process, and the types of stories I hope will be heard and told in the world. I mostly focus on fantasy and sci-fi settings, queer representation in media, and other similar topics. In the "Writing" section, I'll talk about any roadblocks or breakthroughs that I encounter as I work through my WIPs. "Flash Fiction" and the soon-to-be "Novel WIPs" tabs are works in progress- I'll keep you guys posted!
I also want to make it clear that I’m not here to claim that any opinions I express here are the final, end-all-be-all answer to anything. Coming from a fandom space, I know that an environment like that can be expected on blogs like this sometimes. I want to keep this space open to healthy dialogue: I’m a growing writer that is just really, really excited to talk about the personal process I am going through as I learn more about the craft. I’ve got my opinions, but nothing is set in stone, and I would love to hear from you if you have a different perspective. And I’m bound to make mistakes, too. I just hope that this space opens up great conversations- I wouldn’t ever want it to feel antagonistic. Please feel free to reach out to me here or on social media if you want to add your own thoughts or bring up any concerns with me!
Lastly, know that I won't be posting on any particular schedule. That may change in the future, but for now, my biggest priorities are my two novels and the few fanfiction projects that I have yet to abandon. Until my next post, thanks for stopping by!
